When a GT entrance panel shows an “initializing” message on its digital display, that means that the station has rebooted, or is rebooting. If this occurs when a call is placed, that indicates an issue with power on the system.
Possible causes:
- There are not enough power supplies connected to power the system in the long term. An underpowered system may function for a time, but will eventually begin to fail.
- A third-party device was connected to communication wires that feed the station. An installer may have siphoned power from the R1/R2 or A1/A2 wires feeding the entrance panel to power the device, leaving insufficient power to place the call.
- One of the power supplies is failing, or there is a wiring issue. Investigate the power on R1/R2 going to the entrance station or to the system's bus controllers, and verify that the system's wiring is generally correct.
