Summary

A number of things can cause this problem such as wrong ID, wrong wiring, no power, and more.

Solution

Here are a few solutions to try:

  • Meter the R1/R2 terminal for voltage. If you get no voltage, then the R1R2 wire is not connected to the GT-BC, or the GT-BC is not turned on.
  • Multiple entrance stations or guard stations are all using the same ID. Adjust the dip switches to ID multiple entrance/guard stations as ID1, ID2, ID3, and so forth. Make sure to cycle power to the GT-BC after making changes. Cycling power on the back of the GT-MKB-N or GT-DMB-N will not work.
  • On an expanded system install, make sure the guard and entrance stations are wired into Common1 and not Sub1a.
  • When using the Setup Tool to upload to the DMB/DB1 or MKB1, if the entrance station’s ID is set as #5, it will fail. Change dip switches to reflect ID1, then cycle power to the GT-BC.
  • If you have a GT-MCX, then the entrance and guard station cannot be ID as #1 as the MCX takes that ID slot. Change the ID of the entrance or guard station as #2, then cycle power to the GT-BC.
