When an operation fails in the IXG Support Tool, it may indicate that the Support Tool is unable to communicate with one or more stations. This can occur when:
- Uploading settings
- Downloading Settings
- Manually syncing date/time
- Performing other operations that require communication with stations.
Below are some common causes of these failures and the recommended troubleshooting steps:
Incorrect NIC Selected:
- Verify that the correct NIC is selected under File → IXG Support Tool Settings → Select NIC.
- If the correct NIC is not listed, try disconnecting the Ethernet cable, closing the IXG Support Tool, reconnecting the Ethernet cable, and reopening the IXG Support Tool.
Programming PC IP Address:
- Press the Windows key. Type cmd in the search bar and hit the enter key. In the Command Prompt window, type in ipconfig. Verify that your Ethernet NIC's IP address and subnet mask are configured correctly for communication with the stations. If they are not, adjust the settings accordingly.
Station Offline:
- If the programming PC is configured correctly and the appropriate NIC is selected, the station may be offline, rebooting, or experiencing a network connectivity issue. Open Command Prompt and type in ping, followed by the station's IP address. If the response is “Request timed out” or "Destination host unreachable", verify that the station is powered on and connected to the network.
- To continuously monitor network connectivity, type ping followed by the station's IP address (i.e. ping 192.168.1.160 -t). This command can also be helpful when verifying whether a station becomes reachable at its assigned IP address following an IP association command. Press Ctrl + C to stop the continuous ping.
IP Conflict:
- If the programming PC is configured correctly, the appropriate NIC is selected, and the station is powered on, the issue could be caused by an IP conflict. Disconnect the affected station from the network. On the programming PC, open the Command Prompt window and type ping, followed by the station's IP address (i.e. ping 192.168.1.160). If another device responds while the station is disconnected, there may be an IP address conflict. If the response is “Request timed out” or "Destination net unreachable", an IP conflict is less likely but cannot be fully be ruled out.
After addressing any identified issues, attempt to upload settings to the affected stations again and verify that the operation completes successfully.
