When an IX | IXG Series station gives a triple beep, that is an indication that it cannot execute a task. This can happen when:
- Pressing the call button on a door station.
- Attempting to unlock the door on an answering station.
- Trying to place an all-page on an answering station.
- Various other circumstances.
This is different than if the station acts as if it is performing the function, such as a door station ringing and attempting to place a call that never arrives at the answering station. The triple beep is means that the station tried to perform a task, but had to cancel it due to missing or incorrect information.
If this happens, it needs to be corrected in the stations' programming, or in some cases on the network. Consult the respective systems' quick start guides for guidance on adjusting these settings. Here are some common causes of the triple beep:
Calling/Monitoring:
- For door stations, check that calling groups are properly configured.
- For answering stations, make sure that the other station is in their address books.
- Make sure that settings have been uploaded to the stations; if the stations were associated but have not had a settings upload, calls will fail.
- Check the network settings. If there is a hostname assigned, but the site does not have an active DNS server, the call will fail. Delete the hostnames, or consult with the site's network administrator.
Paging:
- Make sure that the paging group has stations in it.
- If an all page is being attempted, the page uses Multicast by default. Make sure that all stations in the system are assigned to a Multicast group on the network (this needs to be done on the network side), or change the page to use Unicast.
Door Release:
- Make sure that the calling door station is in the answering station's address book.
- Make sure that the output on the calling door station is set for door release.
After making any of these fixes, be sure to upload settings to the stations so they are applied and test again.
